Groupon Acquires GroupsMore, Invades Malaysia

Groupon has acquired daily deal site GroupsMore and is set to launch Groupon Malaysia to expand to the Southeast Asian region.

With hopes to become the best collective buying site across the Globe, Groupon has expanded its Asian territory by acquiring Malaysian group buying site, GroupsMore – one of the top group buying sites in Malaysia serving two states in the country, including Kuala Lumpur.

This actually isn’t the first time Groupon has acquired group buying clones in Asia. Using the principles of collective buying, Groupon offers unique discounts with popular businesses and shares them with subscribers, creating a win-win situation for both the consumers and the sellers. The group buying company has partnered with a lot of merchants worldwide with a lot of localization efforts and with this expansion, is surely set to grow more.

Rob Solomon, President of Groupon, says: “We will continue to help shape the way local merchants market themselves in every corner of the world.”

Groupon Malaysia has now joined Groupon’s global network, which offers deals to more than 50 million subscribers in 40 countries. Groupon employs more than 4,000 people worldwide.
