According to Tim Cook, we’re bigger fans of the Apple Watch than we were the original iPhone.
At a company-wide Town Hall meeting, Cook reportedly said the Apple Watch sold better during the holiday shopping rush than the iPhone did back in 2007.
Elsewhere, Cook also said he expected iPad revenue growth (and by virtue, sales numbers) to return by the end of the year. He also said the Apple TV had its best quarter during the holidays.
It’s interesting Cook is so bullish on iPad. Though the company has introduced the iPad Pro and iterative updates to the Air and mini, the tablet segment continues to trend downward for Apple.
Perhaps Cook’s statements suggest the iPad is going to get a killer new feature that will make it a must-have again (3D Touch would be nice, Tim). Perhaps he’s just being positive.
Of special interest is the comment about Apple Watch; Apple is keeping sales figures close to the chest on its first wearable for “competitive” reasons. If Cook is suggesting the Apple Watch has a bigger upside than the iPhone, that’s a pretty big deal.
