Russian Internet search and services giant Yandex has dropped the invitation-only policy for its free cloud storage service Yandex.Disk, which offers users 10GB of storage space free of charge and another 10GB when you introduce the service to your friends.
Yandex originally unveiled its cloud storage service in April 2012, ahead of rival Google’s debut of Drive.
Yandex.Disk is a straight-forward cloud storage and file syncing service, enabling users to upload and access documents, photos, videos and whatnot on the Web and via freshly launched iOS and Android smartphone apps.
A few weeks ago, Yandex announced a deal with Samsung, equipping Russian Ultrabook buyers with 250GB of free storage on the Yandex.Disk service if they buy such a laptop before year’s end.
