YoWindow sells itself as a “new generation” weather application, featuring a living landscape that reflects the actual weather outside.
Thus far, it has been available as a Windows and Mac desktop app, but from today it’s rolling out as an iPhone app too.
Welcome to the world of YoWindow
YoWindow is a pretty straight-forward weather app – as soon as you launch it, and give your permission to use your location, you’re good to go.
It not only shows you what the weather looks like, it plays a relevant soundscape too – and you’ll be pleased to know it can be switched off.
You swipe from left to right to see how the weather’s predicted to be in your location.
The landscape is animated too, with driving rain and swaying flowers depending on the weather and time of day.
You can swipe forward in time for 10 days, and you can either move on an hour-by-hour basis, or click to change the day.
Moreover, you can also view weather for any location – simply click the location box at the top, hit ‘edit’ and you can add any number of locations to your saved list.
You can also change the default landscape, with a choice of village, seaside, airport, oriental or sky.
Of course, the concept of apps mimicking the actual weather outside isn’t a new one – there’s Outside for starters. But YoWindow is a worthy addition, serving up a beautiful and engaging interface.
YoWindow for iPhone and iPod touch should be available to download any time now, costing $0.99 or you local currency equivalent.
