Readability for iPad and iPhone hits the App Store for free on March 1st

Readability for iPad and iPhone hits the App Store for free on March 1st

Popular text reflow service Readability has announced that its app will be available on iPhone and iPad for free beginning March 1st. The service is designed to reformat any webpage that you’re viewing into a pleasantly readable experience with nicely rendered text and images.

Many iPhone and iPad apps like Tweetbot integrate the Readability service already, providing a way for users to reformat text on the fly. Now, Readability is launching its own app to reformat, read articles later and more, across iPhone and iPad devices.

It looks pleasant enough from the demonstration video, with text and column sizing options and a clean interface that hides interactive elements, rather than displaying them at all times in a tool bar.

The app should be out next week after a lengthy review process following the announcement of the ‘Readability platform‘ in November of last year. Readability started its life as a reformatting service only, but has grown to include an API and article saving features that make it similar in some ways to Instapaper and Read it Later.
