Glow partners with MyFitnessPal to better calculate the odds of you getting pregnant

Glow partners with MyFitnessPal to better calculate the odds of you getting pregnant

mfpHealthcare startup Glow today announced its first partnership, which is with MyFitnessPal. With this integration, the idea is that the nutrition and fitness data curated from MyFitnessPal can be incorporated into Glow’s database to help better calculate when a woman has the best chance of getting pregnant. The first 200 MyFitnessPal users who enroll in Glow First will be given a one-month free membership into the program.

Started by PayPal co-founder Max Levchin and Mike Huang, Glow set out to use Big Data as a means to help solve the world’s problems, specifically in the field of healthcare. It has initially focused on pregnancy and is hoping its algorithm can accurately calculate when someone may have the best chance of success.

When we spoke with Huang, he said that what women are eating can have a big effect on their chances of getting pregnant, specifically as it relates to their Body Mass Index (BMI). Utilizing MyFitnessPal’s services, Glow can register what you’ve been eating to integrate it into its calculations. Any data derived will be integrated with Glow Genius, an educational feature that the company added several weeks ago.

Today’s news isn’t really the first time the company has done a data source integration. It uses Facebook Login as a means of authentication, along with importing basic information like a user’s age, where they’re from, their gender, and more.
