Fab “takes a break” from selling third-party designed products in Europe

Design-focused e-commerce site Fab is “taking a break” from selling third-party items across the EU, and is focusing on its “own collection of affordable made-to-measure furniture.”

Despite recently raising funds to grow internationally, Fab has been laying off staff elsewhere, while co-founder Bradford Shellhammer parted ways with the company back in November. And now, as noted by Tech.eu, visitors to the EU portal are met with this message on arrival, with a click on FAQ revealing more details about the “transition”.

So why this shift in focus? “This has been a very successful aspect of Fab’s business in Europe to date, which we will continue to invest in and grow,” says the company.

However, it doesn’t rule out a return to selling third-party designs in the future, adding that it’s “…taking a break from selling products made by others in the EU region at this time. We are still working with designers to develop products that you may eventually see on Fab.”

It’s fair to say this is a big shift in focus from the company.
