BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) is getting a slew of updates today for Android, iOS, and of course, BlackBerry phones themselves. The updates include what the company says are some of the most highly requested features by users.
First up, BBM now lets you send stickers in groups. Stickers have become an increasingly popular staple in messaging (Hangouts just added its own set recently), so it’s only natural that these become available for group conversations.
The Snapchat-like timed messages and photos are also getting a bit more flexible – you can now set the timer as high as 60 seconds. Furthermore, you can now view timed items multiple times so long as they haven’t expired.
The introduction of the new larger iPhone 6 and 6 Plus meant that many iOS apps had to be updated to better support the larger screen size – BBM is the latest of these.
Aside from the improved rendering on larger screens, the app is getting a flatter look to better match iOS’ overall aesthetic.
On the Android side of things, the new version of BBM includes support for Android Lollipop, a new landscape mode and sent/read receipts for photos and messages.
The update is rolling out now, but BlackBerry says the update may take 24 hours or more for it to appear on your respective app store.
