Microsoft announces new Xbox 360 console based on Xbox One design, available today

At its E3 press conference, Microsoft has announced an updated Xbox 360 console with a new design based on its upcoming Xbox One.

The company also announced a new deal for Xbox Live Gold members. Beginning July 1st, customers will get two free game downloads per month, including titles such as Assassin’s Creed II and Halo 3.

While the Xbox One is the main event for Microsoft today, the firm spent time noting that it’s still investing resources in the Xbox 360. Upcoming games for the platform include Batham Arkham Origins, Grand Theft Auto V and Dark Souls II.

Microsoft introduced the Xbox One last month, showing off the new design, upgraded controller and next-generation Kinect. At the time, The Next Web’s Matthew Panzarino called the device an “edgy beast” with a “dark and menacing” feel.
