The real value in education lies in its ability to land you a job. Udacity’s founder and CEO Sebastian Thrun loudly proclaims as much every chance he gets. Now, Udacity is offering jobs to nanodegree graduates.
Part of the nanodegree program involves having projects reviewed. Udacity thinks recent graduates make the best reviewers (the content is still fresh in their mind, after all) so its offering them jobs reviewing code. The company says it currently has hundreds of reviewers across the globe.
In addition to a job reviewing code, Udacity is offering a 2-month contract position to some graduates. In that program, they’ll have the opportunity to work on internal projects as well as open source code, and get “resume-worthy engineering experience.”
Once the two-month contract is up, Udacity is guaranteeing an interview with the engineering team. Not bad for a program that also offers you half of your tuition back when you graduate.
