Two weeks after HootSuite rolled out social plugins for Evernote, Zendesk and Storify, the social media management dashboard today unveiled Yammer as the latest addition to its ever-growing App Directory. This inclusion means that users can now monitor and reply to their Yammer conversations from within their HootSuite Dashboard.
Launched in 2008, HootSuite is a platform that lets users manage multiple social networks through a single dashboard, and the Vancouver-based company has grown into a global social media brand used by individuals and companies alike.
After launching its App Directory late last year with YouTube, Flickr and Tumblr, it later released its Engagement API which reeled in the likes of Digg and Trendspottr to the Directory. Instagram and SlideShare were added back in June.
As for Yammer, well, this is a key integration for HootSuite. Launched initially in 2008, Yammer is a private, in-house social networking platform for businesses – think of it as Facebook for enterprise. It has been growing steadily over the past four years, and was finally acquired by Microsoft for $1bn+ back in July.
By accessing Yammer inside HootSuite’s dashboard, users can view and engage with conversations from their Yammer Main Feed, Inbox and any of their affiliated Groups.
Additionally, employees can post new updates, add attachments and search for content across their Yammer networks, without having to launch Yammer in a separate tab.
So, when a community manager sees a customer tweet that requires an immediate response, they can post to their company’s Yammer feed to gather feedback and respond to the customer without leaving the HootSuite dashboard.
“The integration of Yammer demonstrates the increasing role of social collaboration in business,” says Ryan Holmes, CEO of HootSuite. “As companies grow, employees become increasingly decentralized from one another and rely on multiple tools like Yammer to work through and complete projects.
“Use of social media continues to grow beyond marketing,” continues Holmes. “We see departments including customer service, human resources, sales, public relations and research and development teams are looking to HootSuite for solutions to tackle collaboration problems.”
