Less than ten days after Social media management dashboard HootSuite announced 4m users, the Canadian company has revealed the latest additions to its App Directory, with Instagram and SlideShare among the new recruits. Document-focused app Edocr, and engagement app Zuum have also been added.
Launched in 2008, HootSuite is a platform that lets users manage multiple social networks through a single dashboard, and the Vancouver-based company has grown into a global social media brand used by individuals and companies alike. Earlier this year, we reported that HootSuite had released its Engagement API and reeled in the likes of Digg and Trendspottr to its App Directory.
With these new apps, HootSuite edges closer towards providing a single, solitary dashboard for its users to manage all their online communications.
Instagram and SlideShare were among the top requested app integrations. With the Instagram inclusion, users can view and search Instagram photos, filter the stream to view key feeds (Home, Popular, My Photos, My Likes), view and add comments, ‘Like’ photos, and share photos to social networks. As for SlideShare, you’ll be able to view, upload and share SlideShare content.
Meanwhile, business-focused document-sharing service Edocr’s integration allows you to search for documents by keyword or user; upload documents to Edocr accounts; view and comment on documents; share documents to social networks and more. With Zuum, you can view data about the types of content that drives the highest engagement.
“After launching the App Directory in late 2011, we gave many popular social media networks a new home in our dashboard,” says HootSuite CEO Ryan Holmes. “We’re excited to welcome these popular social networks because they’re centrally focused around the easy-sharing of multimedia content. Regardless of which social media network is popular today, and which is hot tomorrow, it’s HootSuite’s job to make the lives of our power-users, brands, and businesses easier – and we’ll continue watching the industry to achieve this goal.”
The HootSuite App Directory features tools created by third-party developers to extend the main dashboard. HootSuite allow developers to create new apps using the available toolkit, with the created apps integrated directly into HootSuite streams.
Instagram and SlideShare both have the backing of two social powerhouses that are already integrated with HootSuite – Facebook and LinkedIn respectively – so to add their acquisitions to the App Directory makes a lot of sense, in terms of keeping users on its platform.
