Month-old Windows 10 anniversary update won’t reach everyone until November

More than a month after August 2, my media center still doesn’t have the Windows 10 anniversary update. I’m not alone, and it’s not a bug. Microsoft says the release may not roll out to everyone until November.

ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley noticed a little bit of text, hidden in the bottom of an email blast, that admits this extremely slow rollout is intentional.

The Anniversary Update will download and install via Windows Update. The download is automatically available to you. It will begin rolling out on 2 August 2016 and may take up to 3 months to reach all users.

So if you remember reading about all kinds of new Windows 10 features, only to wonder why you don’t have them, there’s you’re answer.

If you want to get this update over with, you can. We’ve already explained how to get the update right now. If those steps don’t work, this link should point you to a direct download for the update. Enjoy the new features.
