As you will probably know, Google Search has had somewhat of a face lift over the last week.
To say there has been an uproar over the latest update would be a lie, but there are plenty of people (as with any change) that would like to see the old version back. To do so is thankfully straight forward, simply make this your default search page:

How long this will remain available is unknown but it will at least give you a little more time to accept that change is coming. :)

Thank you soo much. It feels like I’m using bing with the new google changes
I really like the new design, It’s funny that some people start retaliating after every change and make so much noise.
It doesn’t have the same link options on the top left corner. For me it only has images directory and groups. Is it because it is meant for a different audience?
I’m sure Google tested the changes on focus groups before releasing it, plus in the long run it will improve search.
Give everyone a couple of weeks and they’ll soon climatise to the changes.
Well James, it’s three weeks now and I’m as irritated as ever. If Google wants me back as a user, they need to provide a show/hide sidebar option.
i agree with u peter im going to not use google untill they do the same as u said the new change isnt working out for me to many pictures and it becomes a sore in the eyes and overwelming
yes seriously I do not like the giant font and other lil features of the new google search. I like the caffeine results but not this new design. Was there any notice that this was coming?
thank youuuuu!
Oh wow that is way cool dude. Good stuff.

i linke old design
I had this UI from Google on and off before…
I didn’t realize this was new. Just assumed it was doing it again.
They’ve obviously not done much market research based on the amount of screaming over at their own forums. Personally, I’ve just switched to alternate web search providers in protest. Screw Google. Their motto of ‘do no evil’ is wearing thin now, with it being replaced with ‘make more money’.
I up for google trying new things. However, I would have taken the change a little better if the everything tab optional.
Don’t track my search result clicks. That’s not too much to ask, is it?
great, that’s what i want.it’s not total old but it’s better than now
Thanks! Google, change it back!!!!
I use two Firefox extensions and now rather than my search terms on one side and a search cloud and wiki page on the other half – everything is in the middle and my search results are third in line
Thank you for this – although it may just be easier to get used to to the new version. Might take a while though!
wait, what changed?
can anyone help ._. ?
Strange, I don’t see the change or difference. Any help?
It’s always nice to have options! Especially when it comes to something as regularly used as Google.
How is the new UI not intuitive with facets on the left? I think it is a great way to easily toggle amongst the dif results.
thanks so much,
i am back on google
Bless! Change is strange and scarey
old google for firefox searchbar

Thanks, it works
anyone know how to stop it fading in?
bugged me for ages.
The terrorist in times square should of been at googleplex and taken out matt cutts and the google center! DEATH TO GOOGLE!
I think most of the problem I’m having is old google has been the same for a very long time, and before I used google I used yahoo for years. I’m trained to look at results in a certain way; I’ve been doing it almost everyday for what? 10+ years? So to have things be reformatted, while it seems very small of a change, it really disrupts the flow of how I skim.
the problem with this fix is that you’ll lose the query suggestions, access to filters, language options and other features that existed before the change.
but yes, the new sidebar, the icons and the fade-in are awful and pretty pointless. I’m trying to find an alternative search engine but those I’ve tried so far are not much better.
I use the dictionary link in the results section ALL THE TIME. It’s now gone. The interface is ugly. I’ve been thinking I was seeing things for the last week before I finally convinced myself that I wasn’t. Yech.
Thank god! The new layout for searching reminds me of yahoo and the others. Absolutely hated it. I like simplicity without being overloaded with ads.
Actually, I don’t like the giant font and other features of the new Google search. I liked old Google. Thank you so much for sharing old Google link. I really searched for that and in this blog I got that. some people like this new Google style.
Have been testing this new format for some time. I know at least a couple of months so I have a new shape. If I deleted the cookies, an old form would return. And 'as if they were in making some people and it was random. I like the pure form of an elderly person.
surprised Google chose Bing as their template
I fall into the old version camp, but I think I may grow to like the new version, how many people would want to go back to the styles that were around 10 years ago, it is a constant development but it takes users time to adjust
How do you make the URL the default browser?
Check out http://gooing.org – Google search with Bing background images
Cool – retro Google stylings. Thank god. I don’t like the new interface (who would want to search with a wonder wheel)
Does not work anymore now .
Thank you so much! I did not like those changes at all. I was looking for this. :)
too late….. it’s over now, Gluegle caught it!
time to find a new searvh engine !!!
Does anyone know how to change this back?
Google has vacated the demographic that has historically supported its elegant approach.
The demographic will now vacate Google.
Google Search has had somewhat of a face lift over the last week. However you can still access the old Google Search with no hacks or scripts.
could anyone please explain why i get only the first 20 something images and no “next” button?
if anyone knows a serch engne of what looked to be long ago google please tell me
man this site is slow once you log in!!!! (way too many http requests going on for a single page!!! – I think the devs on this site should read this thread too!)
I don’t like the new Google interface .. yeah sure it looks like Twitter … but when I want to do a search I don’t want sill ajaxy stuff trying to predict and change what I type and I don’t like results loading before I have finished typing my query …
the old Google search form was perfect for a search engine.. simple and fast! (remember it was getting those results QUICKLY that made Google popular in the first place!)
This is a classic example of the MISUSE of ajax breaking usability!
