YouTube Goes Widescreen

YouTube Goes Widescreen

Youtube announced on their blog that we would notice a fair drastic enhancement to our YouTube viewing experience. On visiting the site, we would now (by default) be able to view video in widescreen format – designed give the viewer, “a cleaner, more powerful viewing experience”.

YouTube has needed to extend it’s page width to accommodate the new player which caarries a 16:9 aspect ratio. For all videos uploaded in the standard 4:3 aspect ratio, they’ll appear inset, but the increasingly more common 16:9 videos will fill all available space.

To highlight the enhancement we have embedded a fascinating interactive adventure! At every end of the video you are given the opportunity to pick an ending and are then transferred to a different clip. In the words of the great Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten “Very cool and more interesting than TV…”
