Yelp today announced it has revamped its Nearby feature in its iOS app with suggestions. You can download the new version now directly from Apple’s App Store.
Yelp says the newly updated Nearby tab, currently only available on the iPhone, now offers suggestions based on your location, previous check-ins and reviews, friends’ activity, the time of day, the weather, and so on. In short, Yelp wants to bolster its usefulness as a mobile app by leaning heavily on its community to suggest places to you, whether they’re new ones you didn’t know existed or old ones you did but you’ve forgotten.
The feature was already pretty decent for looking up nearby businesses, but now it can also help you out when you have no idea what you’re looking for. The Yelp for iOS changelog also notes this update affects Events:

Yelp says Nearby is “just the beginning” in regards to what’s next for its users “in the coming months.” Still, Nearby isn’t done – the company is planning more improvements as it gathers feedback.
Furthermore, the same feature is also coming to Android, though the company wouldn’t give a timeframe for the upcoming update (Yelp for Android received a minor bugfix update last week). We’ll let you know when it does arrive.
