With 3.5m registered users, Wunderlist takes its rebuilt, redesigned task-management app to iPad

It was way back in November 2010 when we first reviewed the Mac OS and Windows desktop apps for Wunderlist, a gorgeous task-management service courtesy of Germany-based 6Wunderkinder. “Simple, easy and beautiful” were the three words that sprung to mind a the time.

Then just before Christmas there, an all-new version of Wunderlist rolled out to its 3 million registered users, completely rebuilt and redesigned from the ground up, with new native apps for iPhone, Mac, Android, Windows and the Web.

Now, a little over a week after 6Wunderkinder launched an Android tablet-optimized version, an all new iPad-optimized incarnation has rolled off its ever-moving conveyor belt.

Timed to coincide with the launch, the Berlin startup has also revealed some impressive numbers off the back of its recent relaunch, including more than half-a-million registers users in just eight weeks, not to mention one million downloads across the board.

“Since the launch of Wunderlist 2 in December, we have seen more than half a million sign-ups, boosting our overall registered users to more than 3.5 million,” says Christian Reber, co-founder and CEO.

“Furthermore, during the last eight weeks alone our users have created more than 3.4 million lists and 20 million tasks,” he continues. “We are now truly excited to see these numbers grow even further thanks to the arrival and continued development of Wunderlist 2 on one of our most popular platforms, iPad.”

The universal iOS app, optimized for both the smaller form factor of the iPhone/iPod touch and its larger-screened iPad sibling, Wunderlist’s new tablet app has been designed with speed in mind, and will be reeling in more features in the coming weeks.

For this launch, however, the app will feature the familiar Activity Center (see image above), which serves up an overview of all your activity.

There’s also customizable notifications which can be received via ‘push’ or email, while integration with your iPad’s Address Book and Facebook account gives you easy access to your contacts.

Throw into the mix reminders, recurring tasks and subtasks under ‘Detail View’, then Wunderlist’s latest iPad app offers most things you’d expect.

The new iPad-optimized Wunderlist app should be going live in the App Store any time now.
