Windows Phone 7 won’t support tethering after all

Windows Phone 7 won’t support tethering after all

It was assumed that when Brandon Watson, Director of Windows Phone 7, spoke on the TWiT podcast Windows Weekly and confirmed that Microsoft’s upcoming mobile OS would support tethering pending permission from mobile carriers, he actually knew whether the feature was supported.

It appears he didn’t.

BoyGeniusReport have received word from a Microsoft spokesperson that stated that Mr Watson had “misspoke” and Windows Phone 7 officially “does not support tethering”.

It looks as if that’s all Microsoft had to say on the matter. It’s now only a matter of weeks until the mobile OS is launched and consumers can get a taste of Microsoft’s new operating system.

Would a lack of tethering stop you from buying a Windows Phone 7 device? Let us know below.
