At the end of talks over two days earlier this week, US Secretary of State John Kerry said that the US and China will work together to draw up a code of cyber conduct.
Kerry said, “We need to work through how all countries are going to behave, but particularly how we’re going to work this out in terms of the bilateral relationship.”
The US had previously accused China of hacking government and commercial organizations’ systems. Most recently, China was blamed for the breach of the Office of Personnel Management’s network, which compromised the personal data of four million federal employees.
China was also believed to be behind an attack on US health insurance firm Anthem, in which 80 million customers’ records were exposed. The country has denied both accusations.
