Tunaspot now lets you listen to location-based Spotify playlists from your iPhone

It’s been almost a year since Swedish startup Tunaspot launched its really neat location-based music app for Spotify. And now, it’s available for iPhones too.

Tunaspot lets people tag their playlists to a location on a map, while letting other users ‘discover’ them. So for example, if you’re a DJ and want club-goers to remember and listen to your set-list again when they get home, you could tag a playlist to the venue on a map and share it.

More than 100,000 users on, Tunaspot’s arrival for iPhone clearly makes a lot of sense, given the location-aware nature of the app. However, you’ll only be able to discover music through the app – if you want to drop music, you will need to continue using the Spotify desktop app. For now, at least.

The mobile app surfaces music posted in your immediate vicinity, though with the built-in search feature and hashtags, playlists can be sorted by different criteria, such as #vacationstories and #madeinmalmo. And you will of course require a Premium Spotify subscription to listen to playlists.
