The Oona wants to be every kind of stand your phone needs. It’s a simple design with a central pillar that you can attach two suction cups and base to in a variety of different configurations. Depending on how you attach them you can make the Oona a bedside stand, windshield mount or tripod adapter for your phone.
Although the Oona is demonstrated here on an iPhone, it’s actually compatible with any phone that has a flat back surface for one of the suction cups to attach to. The Oona also seems to be fairly compact, with a low profile, making it good for situations where you have limited room or the phone will be vibrating.
The stand is made of anodized aluminum to make it strong and smooth. The various uses showcased in the video are pretty impressive. I especially liked the under-counter mount for kitchen use and the tripod mounting feature.
The Oona is currently only a Kickstarter project but it’s reached $67,000 in backing, blowing away the $10,000 that Brad Leong, Danny Fukuba, and Sam Gordon were looking to obtain. So the Oona should be showing up on the market soon.
If you want to snag one for yourself now head on over to the Kickstarter page and donate $25 or more. To learn more about the Oona project you can visit its website.
