Svpply, the New York-based company that has long brought the window shopping experience online, quietly released a feature over the 4th of July holiday while the rest of us in the US were busy barbecuing and blowing up fireworks. The iPhone and iPad addition, dubbed Store Explorer, maps out some of the best boutiques to visit in your nearby city and just turned Svpply’s iOS app into the perfect shopping companion.
This move is Svpply’s first major venture into real-world shopping, and serves as an honest companion (or even replacement) to the likes of Yelp in the fashion space. Here’s how iOS users can take advantage of this new feature, according to the announcement:
To get started, download the update from the App Store. If you’re an iPad user, tap the new “Stores” tab on the left. If you’re an iPhone user, visit the “Shop” section and tap the compass arrow in the top right corner.
Right now, Svpply is busy adding cities, so as the team says “don’t fret” if you can’t find anything in your area yet — that said, after playing around with it in NY, I’m sold on its potential.
This simple addition is a useful feature today, but could eventually turn the entire app into a much more actionable product. It’s great to see the team expanding its mission, and right now, it looks like they’re moving in the right direction.
