Despite taking medical leave, Steve Jobs took the stage at today’s big Apple event in San Francisco. He looks thin, but healthy enough to get in a few zings at Amazon and Google in the first 15 minutes. With 200 million accounts between App Store, iTunes, and iBooks, Jobs has a reason to feel good.

“The iPad is something that has to be held, something that has to be touched,” says Jobs.

2010 was the year of the iPad. There were 15 million iPads sold in 2010, which is more than every tablet PC ever sold. According to a video played at the event, the magical iPad has been performing brain surgery, flying planes and teaching children how to read.

“Many have said this is the most successful consumer product ever launched. With over 90% market share… our competitors were flummoxed,” said Jobs. “”When you add this together with over 65,000 apps… we think 2011 is going to be the year of iPad 2.”
