RocketPlay launches Sports Casino on Facebook and announces partnership with Zynga

Sports betting games maker RocketPlay, formerly known as Gamingo, is launching a new title on Facebook and Zynga entitled Sports Casino.

The app is designed to create a Vegas-style sportsbook betting experience. Users place virtual bets on global sports with real-time odds and can take part in other casino games like video poker, blackjack and slots in the meantime.

Along with the new release, RocketPlay is also announcing its partnership with Zynga. The connection should bring the new game to Zynga’s 306 million monthly active players and of course will have a social element with its placement on Facebook.

Sports Casino taps into the emerging two-screen habits sports fans. There are many apps that take advantage of the social elements of watching a game on TV and the need to share personal commentaries and bets on football games as well as apps that enhance a viewer’s experience with added information, much like the Wimbledon tennis apps.

The service provides betting on professional and college football as well as baseball and international soccer. The company hopes to add hockey, basketball and other games in the near future.

According to RocketPlay, the game appeals to the highly sought-after male gamer demographic on Facebook, particularly as social betting games continue to grow in popularity.

Though the game currently uses only virtual currency, RocketPlay has developed Sports Casino to take advantage of the rising importance of real-money gambling in the social space as opportunities arise and legal restrictions are eased.

RocketPlay is funded by Pitango Venture Capital and has offices in London, San Francisco and Tel Aviv.
