Pokémon Go’s battery-saving mode is back on iOS

Pokémon Go has been updated with a bunch of fixes, and version 1.3 for iOS finally brings back the absolutely-necessary battery-saving mode.

This feature dims the screen when you hold it upside-down, allowing you to save power while walking around in search of pokémon.

In an effort to ensure players’ safety, the game will ask you to confirm whether you’re driving if it detects that you’re moving at high speeds. According to Recode, there’s a further deterrent to playing while driving: some users have reported that Pokémon won’t even show up if you’re moving as fast as a car.

You can also change your trainer’s name – but only once – and finally see visuals of team leaders Candela, Blanche, and Spark.

Niantic is also testing a new version of the ‘Nearby Pokémon’ feature with some users; it shows you which pokéstop to go to in order to track down a specific pokémon. Of course, it’ll likely be tweaked before it becomes widely available. You can see how it works in the video above.

The latest version of the game is now available on Google Play and in the App Store.
