Pokémon Go is now on Google Play and the App Store, but you can’t download it just yet [Update: Now live in the US]

Update: The Verge reported at 9:11PM ET that Pokémon Go is now available for iOS and Android in the US. Go get ’em!

Outside the US and can’t wait any longer? MakeUseOf has a simple guide for creating a US App Store account.

At last, Pokémon Go, the highly anticipated augmented reality game that was announced last September, has made its way into Google Play and the App Store. The only problem is that the title doesn’t seem to be available globally just yet.

The Wall Street Journal noted that the Pokémon Company wants players in the US and Japan to “please wait for a while” for the official launch of the game.

It’s also unavailable in India at present – but according to The Verge, some users in Australia and New Zealand have reported that both the Android and iOS versions of the game are live in those countries. So hopefully, you won’t have to wait much longer before it arrives where you live.

For those of you who came in late, Pokémon Go sees players exploring their cities in the search for Pokémon, using their phones to spot these creatures in the wild using AR tech and location info. You’ll also be able to discover Gyms to train your monsters and secure special items like Pokémon eggs at places of interest such as museums and monuments.

Our own Natt Garun tried it out in New York last week and found it to be quite demanding: you can’t just sit at home and play it, you’ll need to get out into the real world to get the most out of the game.

Is Pokémon Go available in your country yet? What do you think of the game so far? Let us know in the comments.
