Pokémon Go keeps shattering records as it goes neck and neck with Snapchat

Pokémon Go keeps shattering records as it goes neck and neck with Snapchat

A week after its initial release, the hype around Pokémon Go is still growing.

The latest research by SurveyMonkey claims the app has already become the biggest mobile game in US history when it comes to daily active users, breezing through competitors like Slither.io and Candy Crush.

Considering that Pokémon Go accumulated twice as many installs as popular dating app Tinder just one day after launching, this news doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

SurveyMonkey further says that the game brought in “just under 21 million daily active users in the United States” in a single day, surpassing Twitter and going neck and neck with Snapchat and Google Maps.

It will be interesting to see what steps Niantic Labs – the company behind the smash-hit game – will take to retain the buzz. Rumors say upcoming updates will include more specialized locations as well as a bunch of new in-app features.

At present Pokémon Go is officially available solely in the US, Australia and New Zealand. Niantic hasn’t yet announced a date for the international roll-out, but you probably won’t have to wait for too long.

But in case you’re too impatient for Pokémon Go to arrive at your country – there are also other ways to get your hands on it.
