Opera Max, the data-saving app for Android, has just become available across 16 additional countries to allow users to monitor, manage and save on their mobile data usage.
Originally launched in February in the US and a few European countries like Turkey and Russia, users in the following countries can try the free app now:
- Albania
- Australia
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Cambodia
- Hong Kong
- Japan
- Laos
- Liechtenstein
- Macedonia [FYROM]
- Myanmar [Burma]
- New Zealand
- Papua New Guinea
- Serbia
- Singapore
- South Korea
- Taiwan
The app works by using a VPN to route your online traffic from your mobile device to Opera’s cloud, which compresses data requested by most of your apps (and not just your browser). This allows users to save on data usage on video apps, social networking and messaging tools and more.

Opera Max also received an update today for improved compatibility with Android 5.0 Lollipop and increased stability.
