Reports emerged today that China’s biggest smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi had created its first electric car, thanks to the image below.
However, the company’s CEO Lei Jun, has confirmed in a statement on Weibo that the photo is in fact a fake.
Xiaomi is the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer and makes tablets, smart TVs and wearables. But while it’s clearly open to expanding its product range, there are no plans for an electric car in the near future.
