Motorola has just announced the latest Android smartphone to launch on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, introducing the new DROID 4 at CES 2012, its thinnest and most powerful QWERTY smartphone yet.
The handset is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and has 1GB RAM backing it up, delivering responsive keyboard controls with its five-row QWERTY keyboard with edge-lit keys. Measuring just half an inch at its widest point, it is said that it will be the thinnest 4G LTE smartphone on the market when it launches, at least until other smartphone vendors finalise their plans.
The DROID 4 features 4.0-inch qHD display, 16GB internal memory, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capabilities and will launch with Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). Motorola says it will follow-up with an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich soon after.
Targeting the enterprise, Motorola will launch the Droid 4 with an interesting range of accessories; the 10.1-inch Lapdock 100, a 14-inch Lapdock 500 Pro with built-in webcam and Ethernet, an HD Dock, HD Station and vehicle navigation mount.
Verizon will launch in the ‘coming weeks’, marking a short period between its unveiling and its release.
