Magneto today launched an iPad app for its intelligent calendar/to-do service, joining its existing iPhone app, Web version and Chrome extension. In addition, Magneto has added the option to estimate public transportation travel times for your events.
While Magneto is still in an invite beta, TNW readers can head here to fast-track the waiting list. With the launch, folks in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the UK now have access to the service.
The iPad version of Magneto uses the bigger screen to focus on planning and the week-long view. The iPhone app, on the other hand, is designed to help users check on upcoming meetings while out and about.
One of Magneto’s key features is the way it automatically carves out travel time into your schedule based on the locations between your different appointments. Previously, the app offered driving, biking and walking estimates.
If you’re the type who logs mileage reimbursements or files for tax deductions, Magneto also offers automated mileage exporting from your work calendar to Expensify. Magneto CEO Gadi Shamia said users are getting back an average of $50 per month from the feature. Shamia said Magneto expects to emerge from its invite beta in the next month and a half.
Magneto has a number of great features for power users and productivity nuts. Since I work from home, I don’t quite get the maximum value out of it when I use it, but I’m glad to see a startup working to systematically remove the pain points around the classic calendar. Now that it’s on iPad and available internationally, I’m sure road warriors will get plenty of use out of the app.
