    TecHubTechHub, the nascent London co-working space aimed at tech startups, has secured a founding sponsor in the shape of education and publishing group Pearson.

    Aiming to be a home for UK and European startups and a convenient drop-in point for internet companies around the world when they’re in London, TechHub is due to open in the Old Street ‘Silicon Roundabout’ area this spring.

    With space for 500 members and offering meeting rooms, device testing facilities for mobile developers and an area for networking events and presentations, TechHub is a bold project. Spearheaded by Elizabeth Varley with support from TechCrunch Europe’s Mike Butcher, the project has already gained the support of big names like blogger Robert Scoble and Seesmic’s Loic Le Meur.

    With publishers the Financial Times Group and Penguin Group under its wing, Pearson carries a lot of weight in its endorsement of TechHub. Juan Lopez-Valcarcel, Pearson’s director of digital product and consumer technology, comments:

    “Digital products and services already comprise about a third of Pearson’s global revenues and we are always looking at new ways of partnering with innovative start-ups and reaching top tech talent. We are excited about being TechHub’s first founding sponsor and look forward to engaging with what promises to be a vibrant community of tech entrepreneurs.

    Pearson’s involvement follows a recent promotional campaign from TechHub which saw entrepreneurs, bloggers and tech superstars from around the world submitting videos explaining why they felt the project was important.
