LinkedIn today announced new versions of its native Android and iOS apps. At the time of writing, the apps aren’t yet available, but they should be soon enough, over at the official Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
The main new addition is the ability for LinkedIn users to edit their profile on the go. The company says this is “one of the most requested features” for its mobile apps, which makes sense since most professionals want to network and make changes when they’re mobile, not when they’re at their PC.
The apps let you update your profile with a new headline, add recent skills, or add a new position. LinkedIn says the new feature is available in all current languages: English, Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish.

The official changelog for the Android app is as follows:
- Ability to edit profile from within the app.
- Enhancements to inMail and Who’s Viewed Your Profile for Premium members.
The official changelog for the iOS app is as follows:
- Enhancements to inMail and Who’s Viewed Your Profile for Premium members.
- Ability to edit profile from within the iPhone app.
- Support for iPhone 5.
As you can see, both apps have received “enhancements” for Premium members, although these are likely just bug fixes and stability improvements. iPhone 5 support means the app now takes full advantage of the 16:9 widescreen screen display. You can use the extra space to both browse other LinkedIn contacts, manage your own profile, and whatever else you use the social network for.
The update today is part of a broader mobile push for LinkedIn, as you can see in the updates from last month below.
