Kabbee, a price comparison service and booking app for minicabs in London, has announced it’s now catering for premium and eco-friendly cars too.

The update was quietly rolled out a couple of weeks back, with users able to specify whether they’d like a ‘quality’ car à la Uber (another company that operates in the city), or a vehicle that’s kinder to the environment. This is thanks to a tie-up with private hire companies such as London Executive, a 300-car fleet based in Central London, and Ecoigo, which includes a fleet of more than 100 hybrid vehicles.

Launched in 2011, Kabbee claims 280,000 app downloads to date across iOS, Android and BlackBerry 10. Unlike Hailo, which also launched in the UK capital back in 2011, Kabbee specializes in catering for private cab companies, as opposed to the famous black taxis that are emblematic of the city. The company raised $3.25m back in 2012 to grow across the UK and beyond, followed by another hefty round back in November, but at the time of writing it remains a London-only service.
