China’s four-day Gmail outage, which began on Christmas Day, appears to have ended, reports the FT.
A government crackdown on Google services began this summer before the 25th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests. However, access to Gmail via POP, IMAP and SMTP remained possible until the latest restrictions.
Now, Gmail seems to be accessible again via those means. Usage stats are slowly increasing again according to Google’s Transparency Report which tracks traffic to its services.
