GitHub added some new features to make code review faster than ever

GitHub just changed the way code reviews are handled, and it will probably leave developers with a lot more time on their hands.

Saying the changes are meant to make GitHub “faster and more flexible” for teams, developers can now filter pull requests by extensions. If you’re the Ruby person on your team, for instance, you can check for .rb files.

If you’re reviewing commits one-by-one, the new list view in the reviews bar will let you find which commit you want to check out quickly.

Finally, there’s now a timeline indicator so you can quickly pick up where you left off when reviewing pull requests. For larger pulls — or those being reviewed by several team members — this will come in handy.

This comes during a time of rapid improvements at GitHub. It has recently added emoji reactions, @-mentions for desktop and a drag-and-drop feature for repo uploads. Pull requests also have templates, which will help get things rolling well before code review even starts.
