Well, it seems that even the world’s largest companies are beginning to pay attention to Foursquare.
This week, Foursquare and Pepsi are teaming up for charity. The hot startup’s leaderboard has just become a charity machine.
From Foursquare: This week (starting last night, thru Sunday Dec 3 @ 11:59p) [TNW this should be the 13th, 4S made a mistake] , every point added to the foursquare leaderboard will be lead to Pepsi donating $0.04 to CampInteractive, an organization that helps empower inner-city youth through technology skills and mentoring.
The total donation is capped at $10,000 as ” things can tend to get out of hand with foursquare :)” Of course, the ten thousand should be gone quickly. But now, if people whine at your endless checking in, tell them that they hate children.
You can get more information on Foursquare here, read their announcement here, and visit the CampInteractive website here.
