We first wrote about Foodily, a “search engine for comparing recipes” last February and then again when it launched its nutritional analysis feature in May. The yummy, Facebook friendly website presents recipes from around the web in a beautiful, magazine-like experience. Through its Facebook integration, foods ‘liked’ on Foodily will appear in your Facebook Timeline and recipes your friend’s ‘like’ will appear in your Foodily recipe search.
Today, Foodily debuted its free iPhone app, so you can now share and recommend recipes on the go. Foodily for iPhone includes in-depth integration with Facebook’s F8 functionality so you can see recipes your friends have liked, cooked and recommended in a single social news feed. You can also attach photos with “Yummify” filters of dishes you cook and post them to Facebook.
Cooking is an art – but you eat it too. That’s not me, that’s Marcella Hazan – but I ascribe to it too. I like food that doesn’t pretend to be art but is just as much fun. Dada at its finest!
And, I’d have to say that being able to upload your own photo of a dish is one of my favorite features of Foodily for iPhone. If I cook it, I brag about it. It’s American! Pillsbury Cookoff all the time – 24/7 – in an iPhone app.

While Foodily lacks the gigantic photos of recipe site Gojee and the trendiness of PunchFork, it makes up for it with social features. Foodily, a San Mateo, CA based startup, is one of the first companies participating in the initial roll out of Facebook’s new F8 features, with the ability to share what you are making and recommending in the iPhone app right to their Timeline.
