Female-friendly dating app Bumble launches on Android and expands outside the US

Dating app Bumble has finally become available on Android, one year after launching on iOS.

Created by Whitney Wolfe, one of the co-founders of Tinder, it is unique because it’s putting women in the driving seat and has already had almost 100 million matches.

Bumble
Bumble is a dating app that puts women first.

Similar to Tinder, it works by only connecting people who have both opted in by swiping right on each others profiles. In the case of a heterosexual matching, the woman must start the conversation within 24 hours before the connection disappears.

The same rules don’t apply for same-sex or friend connections though. In those instances, either person can start the conversation, but the connections still only remain active for 24 hours.

Connections expire after 24 hours unless a conversation has been started.

You can extend one connection for a further 24 hours if you’re feeling a little nervous and need some extra time though.

Bumble’s user experience isn’t the only thing that’s female-friendly in the app; the company is staffed almost entirely by women, with the exception of another Tinder co-founder Chris Gulczynski, who heads up design.

Additionally, Bumble is spreading its wings and launching outside the US in Australia, Brazil, France and Spain later this month.
