President Obama joins Twitter for real

After six years in office, President Obama has got his own personal Twitter account:

Previously, the President had sporadically contributed tweets to the Whitehouse and Barack Obama accounts, signing tweets with his initials. From now on, all tweets directly from the President will come from the new account.

Both @Whitehouse and Twitter’s Government account confirmed the verified account is real.

Obviously, the @POTUS account will pass to the next holder of the office after the 2016 election, with tweets from President Obama being archived just like any other government records.
