Facebook updates Page Composer with multi-image uploads and post scheduling cut down from 12 to four steps

Facebook updates Page Composer with multi-image uploads and post scheduling cut down from 12 to four steps

Facebook today announced two updates to its Page Composer that should make it easier for Page admins to upload multiple photos as well as schedule posts. The new photo features “will be available soon” but the new post scheduling features are becoming available for all today (they started trickling out to some Pages this week).

First up, Page admins are gaining the ability to upload multiple images from their desktop as well as add multiple images via drag-and-drop. Here’s the latter functionality in action:

Facebook is also adding a new camera icon to the Page composer that will allow admins to upload a photo or video with just a single click:

Yet those features are still not ready for launch. Post scheduling, however, has been revamped already.

Facebook says it has shortened the process for scheduling a post from 12 steps to four. Here is how it looks:

While this is clearly an improvement, one has to wonder what took so long. Post scheduling has always been a pain on the social network, and its limitations have spurred many alternatives to grow in popularity.

Given that many social media gurus now share across multiple social networks, better scheduled posts won’t be used as readily as Facebook would probably hope. Still, for those who curate their social updates for every social network (and that’s frankly exactly what you should be doing), this is a big deal.

As for the improvements to photo uploads, those have also been a long-time coming. We’re a bit surprised there isn’t an option to schedule to both Facebook and Instagram, though we suspect the company is still making a point to keep the two services separate for as long as possible.
