EasyJet’s apps can now scan your passport for faster online check-in

EasyJet’s apps can now scan your passport for faster online check-in

If you frequently fly across Europe with EasyJet, good news: the popular airline has added passport scanning to its iOS and Android apps.

So when you finish a booking and want to check-in online (saving some considerable hassle at the airport) you don’t have to mess around typing in your long-winded passport number. Just grab your copy of the precious travel document, take a picture and the EasyJet app should do the rest.

The airline says it worked with Jumio on the new feature to ensure all customer passports could be recorded “easily, safely and securely.” In conjunction with EasyJet’s mobile boarding passes, travellers can now check-in with their smartphone up to two hours before their flight in 110 airports.

Android users will also want to note the hefty app update that landed yesterday; the Advanced Passenger information screens have been reworked and you’ll now get a reminder about your seat selection before checking in.
