If there’s one good thing about Facebook’s timeline – it’s the cover. In fact, some might argue that it’s the only good thing about the new look. Thanks to a new third party service, InstaCover, it just got even that bit better.
With InstaCover, you can easily transform your Facebook cover photo into a vintage-smorgasbord of Instagram photos – and they don’t even have to be your own photos.
You can choose between your own Instagram photos, those by a specific user (you just need their user ID), a specific category, or any tags of your choice. If there’s one request we could make, because we’re just picky like that, it would be to limit photos to one specific filter.
OK we lied, we have another request. Once your gorgeous collage of photos has been previewed, there’s no way to selectively remove an image or two and have them replaced. If there’s one or two images in the final product that you don’t like, you’re stuck with them.
Once you’ve got that selection down, you can tweak the appearance to your heart’s content. Choose the image size, spacing, add optional text to the cover, among other options, preview it and then save it to your Facebook photos.
Then it’s just a matter of heading over to Facebook, and changing your cover photo. You will, of course, notice that the collage is branded with a little ‘Created with Insta-Cover.com’ stamp.
Now technically, you could do this all manually. All you need is a photo editing program like Photoshop, and a lot of patience.
Facebook’s cover photos are exactly 851px by 350px. If you want medium Instagram thumbnails – you’ll need to select 9 photos across and 4 photos down, for large thumbnails, 8 by 3 will do. If you want to cram as many photos as possible in there, you can use 8 photos across and 5 photos down.
You can also get playful with the image sizes, like InstaCover does with the custom settings, and enlarge one or two special images. Resize your Instagram photos and drop them into your collage and upload it to Facebook.
Of course, using a site like Insta-Cover is just so much easier, so if you’re not too picky about exactly which pictures you want to appear in your Facebook cover photo, head over to the site and give it a try.
