Corded vacuum cleaners suck (I’m sorry).
The cables snag. Your range is limited to the nearest available wall socket. They’re often bulky and cumbersome. And, if you’re as hopelessly clumsy as I am, you’re perennially tripping on the wires. Lugging my ancient Vax to the top of my home’s landing area always feels somewhat dangerous, as though I’m Dyson with death (absolutely 100 percent not sorry).
It’s for that reason why, if I lived in the states, I’d grab this Dyson V7 Motorhead cordless vacuum cleaner, which is currently on sale at Newegg for $154.99. That’s $245 (61 percent) less than the usual ticket price.
Dyson, obviously, is one of the more highly-regarded home appliance makes. Having used a fair few of their gadgets in my time, I’d say they tend to get ergonomics right, and the V7 is a great example of that. Weighing just 2.4KG (6lbs), it’s light enough to hold with one hand, making it trivially easy to vacuum stairs and other hard-to-reach places.
In terms of battery life, the V7 gives you 30 minutes of continuous usage. By the standards of cordless vacuums, that’s pretty solid.
So, what makes the V7 so cheap? Well, for starters, it’s a refurbished model. That shouldn’t be too much of a concern though, as it’s supported by a six month warranty from Dyson. Secondly, it’s not exactly the latest model. My colleague reviewed the Dyson V11 in March, and the Dyson V10 last May. The verdict was favorable both times.
That, in my view, shouldn’t be a deterrent. Vacuum cleaners aren’t exactly like phones or laptops. There isn’t much of an impetus to be on the cutting-edge of technology.
Honestly, this is a bargain. If you need a new vacuum, it’s worth getting. You can pick up the Dyson V7 Motorhead for the next three days from Newegg.
