Welcome to CHEAP, our series about things that are good, but most of all, cheap. CHEAP!
What’s going on Apple? The newest version of the company’s AirPods (AirPods 2, I dunno) have barely been out a month and they’re already on offer. Yep, you can currently order the damn things on Amazon for only $139.99 – a full $19 cheaper than their price on Apple’s own website.
Unfortunately, these aren’t the model with the wireless charging case, but that shouldn’t be a dealbreaker – especially now the AirPower charge matt is dead. Even crazier, these new AirPods are currently cheaper than the last generation of the wireless earbuds, which are being sold on Amazon for $147.
There is one catch though: the AirPods 2 on offer won’t be shipping until the middle-to-end of May. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem, as I assume if you were mad about the 2nd generation AirPods, you would’ve already picked up a pair.
So, why would you want a pair of AirPods? Basically, versatility and slickness – especially if you have an Apple device. Of all the wireless earbuds I’ve used, AirPods offer the best experience. They connect and disconnect quickly, their case is sleek, and the build-quality is brilliant. On top of that, the AirPods have a balanced, flexible sound that’s suitable for almost any type of music.
They’re not perfect (here’s a piece where I outlined everything Apple should’ve done with the AirPods 2), but they’re a well-rounded pair of wireless earbuds you won’t be disappointed with. The AirPods are the best product I’ve used in this category.
It doesn’t feel like a very Apple move to discount a new product so soon after release, so pick up the new AirPods while they’re still at this price – who knows how much longer they’ll be sold at $139.99 for?
