Bye Bye Droid? Motorola’s Original Android Phone Reaching “End Of Life”?

If some leaked screenshots are to be believed, Motorola’s original Droid smartphone has reached an “End Of Life” status with no further handset shipments being sent to stockists.

The news is somewhat expected with the impending launch of the Droid 2, expected to drop in the next couple of months. At this stage the phasing out of the original Droid are just rumours – Motorola has yet to confirm or deny reports and put the issue to bed.

It certainly looks conclusive but who are we to sign-off on the Droid’s sudden demise? The developer community will make sure this device gets some love, porting the latest ROM’s and updates to existing Droid owners.

If you are looking for a cheap, powerful and well supported Android handset and are stuck in the middle of a contract, now might be the time to grab this handset and soothe the pain before your next upgrade.
