Real-world objects connected to Twitter are fascinating. We recently showed you the Twitter Cafe at the Dublin Web Summit, which dispensed drinks and snacks in response to tweeted orders. Now, here’s something just as delicious – a Twitter sweet-dispenser.
Liverpool, UK-based communications agency Uniform is showing off a great way of celebrating when its Twitter account gets new followers – a ‘cuckoo clock’ that pops out sweets for employees to enjoy.
As Uniform explains: “We’ve been exploring the idea of physical apps, objects that connect to the Internet to perform dedicated tasks, enabling users to access information or services without using a standard interface like a mouse, keyboard or touchscreen.
“Sweet Tweet is an extension of this idea. We wanted to create a physical app that connected our studio to our Twitter followers, alerting us all each time we get a new follower…Now every time we’re followed everyone in the studio shares a very tangible, glanceable and aural notification as our clock toots and tweets a sweet, which makes us all smile.”
Brilliant. If anyone needs me, I’ll be busy building one of these for myself…
