Launched in the US in 2011, BillGuard sells itself as the world’s first ‘people-powered antivirus system for bills’. Its predictive algorithms alert users to unexpected charges such as hidden fees, billing errors, scams and fraud on credit card bills. It also issues alerts when a similar dubious charge has been flagged by other users.
BillGuard finally launched its iPhone app back in July, and today sees version 4.0 hit the App Store, introducing a number of key updates. Indeed, a new smart saving feature alerts you to money saving coupons for your top shops, while spending analytics tells you where your money is going most frequently.
So now, you’ll be notified about potential savings as you’re about to shop, as well as see insights on how to manage your spending. And with these changes, BillGuard is evolving into more of a smart personal financial manager than strictly a service for tracking dubious charges.
With this latest update, you can also now clear all your recent transactions from your BillGuard inbox with a single swipe. The updated app is available to download from the US App Store now.
