A little more than year after the BBC first launched its dedicated mobile sports app, the broadcaster has finally introduced push notifications for your favorite football (soccer) teams.

With the updated Android and iOS apps, you can now be notified when your team kicks off in a game, when a goal is scored, and the half-time/full-time results. It’s compatible with pretty much all the professional football teams in England and Scotland.

Similar functionality is already available in apps like OneFootball, but it’s great to see alerts finally arrive for BBC Sport too. There’s no reason why this functionality can’t be extended to other sports and teams in the future, and this is something you can likely expect in future releases.
