Under Armour launches Record, another platform for tracking your health and fitness data

Under Armour launches Record, another platform for tracking your health and fitness data

Sports clothing and accessory manufacturer Under Armour today launched its own health and fitness network, which the company says is aimed at getting you – and your friends – fitter.

Company CEO Kevin Plank said Under Armour Record (UA Record) is suitable for people of different fitness levels and creates a visual dashboard of all your activity data in one place, thereby making it easier to keep track of your personal fitness goals.

Like other competing platforms, UA Record will keep track of your steps, sleep, calories burned, heart rate, weight and more. It’ll also play nicely with “thousands of fitness tracking devices and apps,” so you can integrate your motion and GPS data without hassle.

The 💜 of EU tech

There’s also a social element to it: UA Record allows you to invite 20 friends from your network to take part in customized health and fitness challenges. Naturally, it’ll then track group progress and display things like leaderboards to spur you on.

UA Record is available to download now for Android and iOS devices – and replaces the previous Under Armour Women app to provide a more all-encompassing platform.

Of course, there’s no shortage of rival platforms for people to try out (virtually every major smartphone maker has its own right now), but UA Record’s open approach to integration with third-parties could see it gain some success.

Indeed, it has already signed a deal with HTC that will see the device maker build “a series of products to work seamlessly with UA Record,” HTC said.
